EndSARS: Bishop Oyedepo Expresses Heartfelt Support For Protesters
Bishop David Oyedepo, the President of Living Faith Church, has expressed solidarity with the Nigerian youths, who are calling for an end to police brutality through the EndSARS peaceful protests.
Bishop Oyedepo who has been a openly critical of governments in Nigeria declared his stand while preaching a sermon today at the Otta headquarters of the church.
While stating that he has risked his reputation over the years to call out the government over bad leadership, thee pastor made it clear that he has done so because someone asked him to, as he is not an opinion leader but a prophet sent by God.
Endorsing the campaign, the Bishop said “Every man has a right, legitimately so, to express their displeasure and pains” he said.
“I kept quiet for a while because in 2015 I warned this nation, vehemently, consistently, because I saw the dangers ahead and you can tell. The most gruesome season in the history of the nation is the last 5 years where lives have no value, wanton killings here and there.
“Now they have faced the youths and because they don’t know who is next, they have the right to say ‘enough is enough’. Any system that has no value for human lives is irrelevant. If they were killed when they were youths, would they be where they are today?
He also noted that you may not know that a goat can bite until you push it to the wall.
He warned officers to desist from shooting at the peaceful protesters who have conducted themselves in orderly fashion.
